Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary

Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the Western Ghats in Kodagu District, Karnataka State. It is situated between the Wayanad District of Kerala and Kodagu District of Karnataka. The valleys of highland are filled with green forest, the solo forest ranges part of it and there are dotted grasslands on the top of the mountains. The Brahmagiri Peak located in the sanctuary is one of the highest points in Coorg with a height of around 1,607 meters above sea level. The Brahmagiri wildlife is the thick forest and reserved for wildlife.

The common Mammals: Lion-tailed Macaque, Elephant, Gaur, Tiger, Jungle Cat, Leopard Cat, Wild Dog, Sloth Bear, Wild Pig, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Nilgiri Langur, Slender Loris, Bonnet Macaque, Common Langur, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Malabar Giant Squirrel, Giant Flying Squirrel, Nilgiri Marten, Common Otter, Brown Mongoose, Civets, Porcupine, Pangolin, Python, Cobra, King Cobra, Emerald Dove, Black Bulbul and Malabar Trogon. This place is best for trekking and expedition, are valleys, rivers, filled with rich natural diversity. The main reptiles found here are Python, Cobra, and King Cobra. Black Bulbul, Malabar Trogon, and Emerald dove are the concerning birds.

This Wildlife Sanctuary situated 60 kms from Madikeri and 243 km from Bangalore city. This is dangerous to visit as it is home to tigers, leopards, and other poisonous snakes. If you want to trek deeper into the forest guide from locals (who know the area well) and experts recommended.
