Irupu Falls – A Waterfalls in Sacred Place

Irupu falls is located in the Brahmagiri range in Virajpet Taluka of Kodagu district and is also bordered by Kerala state. The waterfall plunge from the height of 170 ft and with two major drops. It is the major tourist spot between dense rainy forest one can see wildlife if you’re lucky, experience journey within nature while you walk to get there. The forest trail leads from Irupu falls to the Brahmagiri peak. The Rameshwara Temple situated, en route to the falls, Lakshmana Thirtha River is the watercourse of Irupu falls. Irupu falls also called as Iruppu falls and Irpu falls.

Getting there

It can be easily accessible from Kerala State, need to trek roughly 1 km or 10 minutes to reach there from Rameshwara Temple where the road ends.

  • 80 kms from Madikeri town via Madikeri – Virajpet Rd/Virajpet – Byndoor Rd and Gonikoppal-Kutta Rd/Squadron Leader Ajjamada B Devaiah Rd
  • 40 kms from Virajpet town
  • 260 kms from Bangalore City
  • 120 kms from Mysore City

Nagarahole National Park is the nearest attraction to Irupu falls and best time to visit this waterfalls is from June to October (rainy season – water flows heavily).

As many of the tourist places situated in and around Madikeri. Irupu falls and Nagarahole are located far from other tourist sights, it takes lot of time travel to get other tourist interest place
