Pushpagiri Peak – Second Highest in Coorg
The second tallest mountain in Kodagu after Tadiyandamol, located 36 kilometers from Somwarpet, stands between Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu District. The Height of the peak is about 1748 meters, is the part of Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary and situated on Western Ghats range. Peoples also called as ‘Kumara Parvatha’ as located in Kumaralli Village. Generally cool and wet climate exists all over the year, in the monsoon fog covers the area completely makes it invisible to enjoy the scenery. The area receives rainfall about 2500 mm per year and trekking in the route is hard in the rainy season. November to January is the hottest with around 25 to 29 degree Celsius while 29 degree Celsius records in April to May.
The best trekking site in Coorg is Pushpagiri Sanctuary, there are many routes which worth for trekking and is one of the busy routes for trekkers. Generally, Trekking approaching from Pushpagiri Peak and ends in Subramanya, the place surrounded by the hilly terrace, rich wildlife, Deep Valleys, rare trees and poisonous snakes.
The Peak has awesome surroundings, this peaks reachable only by trekkers, there is road beneath the peak, jeeps and two-wheeler can be reached easily, to reach the top of pushpagiri peak must trek about few kms within the thick and narrow green forest.
